Formerly One on One NCLEX Tutoring

Personalized NCLEX Coaching and New Nurse Mentoring

Pass the NCLEX. Build Confidence. Learn to Think Like a Nurse.

Hello, I'm Rhoda Sommer, RN, MSN Ed.

With more than 40 years of nursing experience, I am passionate about helping nursing students and new nurses develop the critical-thinking, clinical judgment, and confidence needed to succeed.

At One on One Tips, my goal is not simply to help you pass the NCLEX. My goal is to help you think like a nurse—the skill that supports sound clinical decision-making, strengthens confidence, and prepares you for success in real-world patient care.

Whether you are preparing for the NCLEX, struggling with test anxiety, facing a repeat attempt, or feeling overwhelmed during your first year of nursing practice, you do not have to navigate the journey alone.

Unlike large NCLEX programs that rely on generic study plans and question banks, I provide personalized one-on-one coaching tailored to your unique learning needs. Together, we identify your challenges, strengthen your clinical reasoning, and create a plan that helps you move forward with confidence.

How I Can Help

✔ One-on-one NCLEX preparation and tutoring

✔ Support for repeat NCLEX test takers

✔ Test-taking strategies and critical-thinking development

✔ Clinical judgment, prioritization, and delegation skills

✔ New graduate nurse mentoring and coaching do not have to be within the first 90 days. Any time in the first year

✔ Confidence-building for success in nursing practice

If you're ready to move beyond memorization and develop the structured thinking skills needed to succeed on the NCLEX and at the bedside, I would be honored to help.

We Focus on Confidence, Not Just Content

Many students know more than they think they do.

What they often lack is confidence in applying that knowledge.

Our goal is to help students develop the confidence, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills needed to succeed on the NCLEX and in nursing practice.

My Philosophy

Nursing is more than memorizing facts. Success comes from learning how to assess situations, prioritize care, recognize patterns, and make sound clinical decisions. I believe every nursing student and new nurse can develop these skills with the right support, encouragement, and guidance.

My mission is to help you move beyond simply studying for a test and become a confident, capable nurse who is prepared for the challenges and rewards of professional practice.

New nurses don’t fail because they’re not smart. They fail because nobody walks alongside them.

Why I Created One on One Tips

When I began my nursing career, I quickly learned that passing nursing school and becoming licensed were only the first steps. Like many new nurses, I found myself facing challenges on the floor without the level of support and guidance I needed to feel truly confident in my role.

Although I was dedicated to providing excellent patient care, there were times when I wished I had someone experienced to help me strengthen my clinical judgment, build confidence, and learn how to think through complex situations as a nurse.

Those experiences inspired me to create One on One Tips.

My mission is to provide the support, encouragement, and practical guidance that I wished I had received as a new nurse. Through one-on-one coaching and mentoring, I help NCLEX candidates and new nurses develop critical-thinking skills, gain confidence in their abilities, and learn how to think like a nurse in real-world situations.

I believe that every nursing student and new nurse deserves personalized support as they grow into safe, competent, and confident professionals. My goal is to help bridge the gap between education and practice so that nurses can succeed not only on the NCLEX but also at the bedside.

For New nurses from One on One Tips

New nurses don’t fail because they’re not smart. They fail because nobody walks alongside them.

I’m Rhoda— a nurse and preceptor who has sat exactly where you’re sitting. I know the overwhelmed looks at the bedside. The racing thoughts before the report. The fear of missing something. The exhaustion of figuring it out alone.

And I know how to fix it.

In our 1-on-1 mentoring sessions, we get straight to work—your patients, your unit, your confidence. We break down your real clinical scenarios, close the gaps nobody warned you about, and build the kind of judgement that makes you dangerous in the best way possible.

No fluff. No generic tips, just direct, personalized mentorship built around you.

Your first year is hard enough. You don’t have to white-knuckle it alone.

NCLEX Students

Offer for NCLEX

Tutoring that helps you think like a nurse.

Passing the NCLEX is not about memorizing information and giving it back on a test. The NCLEX evaluates your clinical judgment—your ability to think like a nurse. That's why I focus on helping students understand the "why" behind nursing decisions so they can confidently apply their knowledge to patient care and succeed on the NCLEX.

Over the years, I have developed worksheets and learning tools based on my experience as a nurse educator and mentor. Students frequently tell me these worksheets help them learn faster, organize information more effectively, and understand how to think through NCLEX-style questions. My goal is to make learning less overwhelming and help students gain the confidence they need to succeed.

Failing the NCLEX is not the end. There is life after the NCLEX, and one test does not define the nurse you are becoming

Why Choose One on One Tips Instead of a Big-Name NCLEX Program?

When preparing for the NCLEX or beginning your nursing career, it can be tempting to choose a large company with a recognizable name and a massive question bank. While those resources can be helpful, they cannot replace personalized guidance from an experienced nurse educator who is invested in your success.

At One on One Tips, you're not just another account number or subscription.

Learn From an Experienced Nurse, Not Just a Program

As an RN with more than 40 years of nursing experience, I work directly with every student and new nurse I mentor. I take the time to understand your strengths, identify your challenges, and help you develop a plan that fits your individual needs.

Learn How to Think Like a Nurse

Passing the NCLEX requires more than memorizing facts.

Success comes from developing clinical judgment, prioritization skills, and the ability to think through patient situations safely and effectively.

My focus is helping you develop the structured-thinking skills that support success on the NCLEX and in real-world nursing practice.

Personalized Support Every Step of the Way

No two learners are exactly alike.

Whether you're struggling with content, test anxiety, prioritization questions, confidence, or a previous NCLEX failure, your coaching is tailored specifically to you. Together, we focus on the areas that will make the greatest difference in your success.

Support Beyond Test Day

Passing the NCLEX is an important milestone, but it is only the beginning of your nursing journey.

Many new nurses find the transition from nursing school to clinical practice challenging. That's why I continue to support new graduate nurses as they build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, and adapt to the realities of patient care.

You're More Than a Student

At One on One Tips, I believe every student deserves individualized attention, encouragement, and honest guidance.

Your goals become my goals. Your challenges matter. Your successes are celebrated.

If you're looking for more than a question bank—if you're looking for a mentor who will help you build confidence, strengthen critical-thinking skills, and grow into the nurse you want to become—One on One Tips is here to help.
