Welcome to One on One Tips!

Hello, and a warm welcome to you! I’m Rhoda Sommer, the proud owner of One on One Tips. I'm so glad you’ve chosen to visit our website. My passion for the nursing profession drives everything we do here. I've witnessed countless nursing graduates work tirelessly to pass the NCLEX exam, only to face additional challenges as new nurses. Seeing new nurses questioning their chosen path after stepping onto the floor pains me. That’s why I’m dedicated to mentoring both NCLEX students through tutoring and providing support for new nurses through personalized mentoring sessions.

We’re thrilled to have you here! Our goal is to equip you with valuable resources and support to help you become the nurse you've always dreamed of being. Whether preparing for the NCLEX or navigating your first nursing job, we're here for you every step of the way.

 For NCLEX Students

Understanding Your Journey

We recognize the challenges you face on this journey. The NCLEX exam is no small feat! We understand that the questions can be perplexing, and sometimes, grasping all the necessary content feels overwhelming. You may wonder whether memorizing the signs, symptoms, and treatments for many conditions is essential. You’re not alone in your struggles.

We empathize with your situation – balancing study time with family commitments, personal obligations, and the pressures of work and life. It’s a challenging landscape, especially during holidays when everyone wants to gather or when you need to earn a living.

Join our study groups like you did in nursing school and benefit from collaborative learning. Our comprehensive study guides cover all necessary material, and you’ll find an abundance of practice questions to hone your skills.

Additionally, I create informative videos to help you learn, some of which are complimentary, while others are exclusive to our members or can be purchased. We also host four engaging webinars each year, providing additional opportunities to learn and interact with others in your field.

A Dedicated Section for New Nurses

 Congratulations on Your New Role!

First off, congratulations on your big accomplishment! You’ve made it to this monumental milestone, which is **fantastic, fabulous, and completely wonderful!** We are so proud of your achievements. Before you dive into your new journey as a nurse, take the time to celebrate this milestone with friends and family. Make it memorable – you deserve it!

 Transitioning into Practice

Now it’s time to embark on your first job! As you navigate this transition, remember to weigh all benefits, and don’t just jump at the first opportunity that comes your way. Consider the following:

- Orientation: What kind of orientation does the hospital offer? Do they have a well-structured program?

-Support: Is there a preceptor or mentor to guide you through the early days? How long does their mentorship last?

- Structure: Will you attend classes during your orientation? How long is this period?

-Schedule: What times will you be required to be on-site?

-Floor Time: When will you start working directly with patients under the supervision of your preceptor? Is there ever a chance you’ll be alone before orientation ends? What would that look like, and who can you turn to for help?

Taking the time to ask these questions will help you start your nursing journey on solid ground.

Ongoing Education and Resources

We’ve developed valuable resources for ongoing education to support you throughout your career. You’ll find links to webinars and conferences to enhance your knowledge and skills on our site. Plus, we host our own webinars four times a year, and you can help shape the topics by participating in our polls on Instagram!

Mentorship Programs

Rhoda also offers mentorship for new nurses during their first two years, a time often filled with surprises and uncertainty. It’s natural to wonder, “Do I know what to do next?” or “Who should I call for help?” If you ever feel overwhelmed or unsure, don’t hesitate to join a mentoring session with Rhoda or reach out if you need anything urgent.

Through mentorship, you’ll gain access to Rhoda’s extensive knowledge and experience tailored to your specific challenges. If you work locally, consider encouraging your hospital or facility to allow Rhoda to visit you on the job. This hands-on support is designed to help you become the best nurse you can be!

Welcome once again, and remember, you’re not alone on this journey. We’re here to support you every step of the way!

Notes for MI teaching

Notes for MI teaching

I am here to help you and mentor you. I have students and new nurses who think I don’t need help—I finished nursing school; I got this!” Yet every time I talk to new graduates out of orientation, I hear comments like these.

“I need help with delegation on the floor, which I used to work on as the tech.”

“I need help interacting with a friend who will now work with me as a nurse while they are still a tech. How do I do that? I don’t want to lose them as friends!”

“I need help asking the coworker I worked with as a tech, who was also the nurse, for help. How do I do that?”

These are all things I can help with in our membership and blog. I will share many other examples over the next few weeks, but this is a start.

What our clients are saying

Shana 6/2023

Throughout my journey I was unsuccessful at passing the NCLEX “THREE TIMES,” and each time I attempted, I felt more and more ashamed, very nonfulfilling or should I say very doubtful about my life and my next steps in life.

During my journey, I had unitized several different NCLEX preps including Uworld, Remar, NCSBN, Archer, and Mark Klimek. I am not saying that they didn’t work each of them added something to my learning process some a little more than others.

After failing my NCLEX exam on the first time really didn’t feel ready for Next Gen NCLEX but with help from Rachel, who helped me put everything together, how to dissect, and tips/tricks to understand how to approach New Gen questions I became more confident at answering NCLEX questions as well as New Gen questions.

I took my NCLEX on a Saturday the day before my birthday to make sure it would be my special birthday present to myself . . . lol I was scared to check because I wanted to continue to celebrate/enjoy my birthday. On Monday Rachel reached out to me to find out if I had checked I told her I hadn’t and was scared she told me to STOP IT! So, I stopped what I was doing, and I paid for the quick results there you have it I had PASSED NCLEX. That was truly a great Birthday gift to myself.

Jasmine 2021

Choosing One on One NCLEX tutoring was my best decision in 2021!

After more than one failed attempt at taking the NCLEX, My mother suggested I find a tutor to help me find my missing link to passing! I live in Ohio, & there was no credible tutoring business for the NCLEX around me, so I decided to branch out.

So I got on Google & found Rhoda. Reached out through email & set up a consultation, Right from the beginning I loved that she was organized and had the plans to help me break down my problem areas and execute to PASS MY NCLEX! I had the pleasure of working with two tutors, Della & Rhoda! I love that they are professional yet down to earth and kept it real with me about my status and how they felt my progress was. They never let me feel alone; we checked in every week, even if it was not the day of my appointment. On my last tutoring session, Della gave me tasks to help me be ready until my test day; the support has been consistent & still is after I passed!
